A Celebration of Trans Joy, Identity, and Power

THE PURPOSE
This project was created as a response to the increasing attacks on the trans community and the harmful misinformation that continues to circulate. At its core, the goal is simple but powerful: to showcase real trans people as they are—full of strength, depth, joy, and individuality.

The idea sparked from a moment of frustration and love, when a video highlighted how trans identities are still being questioned in everyday spaces. It became clear that what’s needed is more visibility rooted in truth and dignity—not debates, but declarations.

VeroLuce Photography, Backed by the Pride Center of Montclair, and shaped with input from local trans voices, this project is a testament to the belief that being seen is its own kind of activism. It's about shifting the focus from fear to pride, from marginalization to celebration.

THE EXPERIENCE
Participants will be photographed in a simple, clean setting—with a white background to ensure each individual shines as the focal point. The portrait session is meant to be affirming, low-pressure, and rooted in care. Participants are encouraged to dress in whatever makes them feel most beautiful, powerful, and themselves.

A gallery opening during Pride Month will feature these portraits, creating a space for celebration, reflection, and community connection. It’s an opportunity not just to be seen, but to be honored.

HOW TO PREPARE
Participants are asked to submit a short written bio (300–500 words) to accompany their portrait. This is an open space to share anything—identity, experiences, dreams, or what brings joy. It’s completely personal and entirely yours.

Friends are welcome to attend the session for support or behind-the-scenes content—whatever makes the experience more comfortable and fun.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
Each participant will receive one fully retouched portrait for personal use, free of charge. Additional images are available for purchase at a significantly discounted rate of $30 each (standard rate: $250).

This project is about visibility. It’s about joy. And it’s about power—reclaiming it, celebrating it, and sharing it with the world.   Thank you for being a part of it.
